A couple questions concerning the cab. First, how handy/useful/necessary are they. My dealer said a hard cab is about $2K and a heater is an additional $235. Do you gator guys use a cab? Is the cab a Kubota or a Curtis sold by Kubota. Will the doors lift off easily for summertime use or are they pretty much permanent? You guys that have cabs on your tractors, how do they work? Maybe they will have one at the Farm Machinery show in February. While I'm asking, would anyone prefer a 4-wheeler over a utility vehicle. I realize that may not be a fair question because they are designed for different uses.

Thanx

They both have good fit and finish on there cabs and about as good as it gets. The doors are lift offs just the same as the Curtis system. It seems there are people who can enjoy the open air year around and those who choose not to.

Art, Is the hard top and windshield removable also? Bird had mentioned that the mule made a nice rolling scaffold, if I did that I would want to make a temporary plywood top rather than mess up the kubota paint.

The RTV900 cab is made by Curtis for Kubota. The doors will lift off easily, you just got to remove the small gas door shocks (like on a hatchback car). You can remove the windshield and/or roof since it is an aftermarket product. It's not real hard to do, but it is time consuming...take your time and have good instructions on-hand. You will need help to take off the windshield, so you don't break it but the roof can probably be removed solo. However, all that said I would leave them on...the windshield tilts forward (opens) a little for ventilation and just cover the roof with some kind of protective plastic or something like it. I hope that helps! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

BTW, I think the cab works well i.e. better than the Kawasaki Mule cab. The RTV900 cab keeps the chill out in extreme cold temps (below 0 F). Also, the Mule is your best comparison not the Gator. The Gator is not in the same league as the Mule or RTV900 i.e. its not as good (to say the least).
