Stumbled on to the forums here looking for ideas. Need some help.

I have a 2007 RTV 900 with a release valve. No major complaints with over 1000 hours on it. Wife beats the crap out of this thing and it just takes it... until now.

From what I read and see in the transmission, I am currently experiencing a shift lever that jumped the fork in gear M.

It will start in gear and move forward, but I cannot free the pressure on the transmission. I pulled the shifting plate and reset the fork, but I can't figure out how to release the pressure. Pulling the knob does nothing.

Where do I look next?
Saw some possibilities about a faulty pressure relief valve as a possiblitiy, but haven't looked at it yet.
I'm trying to avoid the dealer at this point unless I really have to.

I did some quick searching in the forums here and apologize if there is something here I haven't read yet. Just haven't found the right keywords to search on if it's out there.

Good other stuff here too. My front U joint is noisy as ****. I thought the Diff was broke and was avoiding 4WD for the past 8 months until I read the threads here on it. I'll be going to dealer for new replacement part OR following the "Fix" I saw by another member. Thanks much to all.

thanks for the link to the other post.

I noticed the misalignment. I did try move it a bit by hand, but did not use a pry bar. I didn't want to put that much pressure on it without doing a little more reading. I'll try that lightly tomorrow and then also try holding the brake to see if one of the two works.

thanks.

Neither the pry bar or brake trick worked. It's frozen in gear big time. Man I was hoping to avoid the dealer. I can just feel that this is going to be expensive.

Just a thought, maybe try to put the unit up on blocks so that all of the wheels are off of the ground. This may take any torque off of the drive train. Then try to turn each wheel by hand to move drive train components.

Samething happened to my 2006 RTV 900 STUCK IN REVERSE.The cost was about $200 bucks to fix from dealer. The dealer built my rail up so this won,t happen again.I have learned with my RTV if it seems hard to shift with Hydo.pressure to shut the machine off and restart to release the pressure. It,s a PIA I guess kubota wants me to live with.coobie

Fixed.
Cost me $91 and a new gasket (cause i broke it pulling the cover off too many times). They didn't even pull it off the trailer when I got there.

They went under and pulled some screw out of the transmission. freed the pressure. re-aligned the two slots and re-seated the shifter.
Then they re-adjusted the cables.

In talking with them, they said all of these issues have been well worked out of the 2009 and above vehicles and only exist in pre-2009. They were real cool. Won't hesitate to go back again.
Still think I'm doing pretty good at 1000+ hours and that was my first trip to the dealer.

I've done all required maintenance according to the book on my own. Not hard stuff.

thanks for the comments everyone.

most importantly, did you get to watch them so you can do it yourself next time?

I'm looking at getting a 2007 RTV900 with only 8 hours that has been garage parked for a year or so. Asking price is $9500 and I'm curious if the newer models are that much better than this 2007. It is the camo worksite model, with a winch, and camo roof. Would love to hear comments on if this seems to be roughly a fair price and if going for the new model is worth the extra $$$. I have a kubota 3130 tractor so the fact that i could use the same hyd. fluid and diesel in both is a plus. Also, we have kids driving it so the relatively low speeds is actually a good thing.

Thanks!
