New to this RTV, and this morning it was about 29 degrees. The manual says turn to glow plug spot on key for 5-10 seconds. I only have 3 positions; Off, On, and Crank, so I put it in on position for about 10 seconds and never saw the glow plug indicator light up on the panel and it didn't want to start. It finally did after about three attempts. Am I doing something wrong? I saw I could put a block heater in it, but don't think the juice is worth the squeeze since it doesn't get that cold here often in N Florida

Thanks in Advance

I wonder if your diesel started to gel and partially blocked the fuel line or filter at that temp. I suspect you only have what we call summer diesel that far south. Winter diesel is designed to prevent freezing / gelling.

Not familiar with your rtv, but some diesels have a spring loaded counter clockwise position for pre heat.

It does have a glow plug position. It will feel like, "for lack of a better term", a spring loaded position and dash light will be on.
Mine has started in minus 40 though at that point I had to glow plug and hit starter twice.

Between the on position and crank position, you will have a spot that turns on the glow plugs.
Agreed, it's not an actual position. But between 2.

yes turn the key against spring load before start and the glow light will come on and then hold it for a little while before turning to start. If no glow plug indicator then there is a problem that you need to fix

Thanks @RjCorazza. I've had some of those Diesels, and tried that first. I was told by the service tech here to check the relay. Gonna check that later.

I had never come across the saying "The juice isn't worth the squeeze." until I read your post. Totally appropriate for someone posting from Florida. Welcome to TBN, the best tractor forum on the web.
