I park my BX25 with the BH to one side to that it takes up less space in my garage. Today when I brought out the tractor to move so wood, I noticed when I straightened out by BH that thre is a little rubber O-Ring that is on the hydaulic cyl. It is black and it is at the other end of the rod as it has been pushed there when the boom was swung to the other end. I was wondering if this is supposed to be in the little groove where the seal is on the cyl. I then looked at the rest and they have them as well. Most of them have been pushed to the top of the rod when the cyl was closed all the way.

I hope these are not supposed to be part of the seal for the cyl? Almost every cyl has them and they are pushed down the rod on the cyl. Can anyone comment?

I don't know how I never noticed them before.

Cheers,

Don't worry. Think of it as a "paint seal". It serves very little purpose other than to give you something to tape against so when/if the cylinder is painted (as it was at the factory), the paint doesn't get up into the seals that really matter.

If you look, all of your hydraulic cylinders have one...some of them just may not have dislodged from the end of the cylinder yet.

Don't worry. They will.

KeithInSpace is right these o-rings are to keep the paint off of the the rod wiper seal during the painting process. Solvents in the paint would harm the rubber seal if were to get on it. No worry just remove them.

Mine fell off on their own. There are a couple of other threads on these forums about them. They apparently should be removed before you ever receive it but that often is not the case.

I noticed one of them was dislodged on my BX23.
Was like that for a long time before it broke in to and fell off.

Thanks for the replies. It is funny how almost all of them have dislodged at the same time. I think it was from the other day when I burried the tractor in the backyard in snow. It took me over an hour to finally walk it out with the BH and FEL Bucket. I was working it pretty hard and it was -30C. It was the first time ever that I didn't want to be in the yard playing... I mean working with the tractor. I was questioning before if I was going to leave the BH on for the Winter and this incident just made me realize the value of the BH in the Winter. If I did not have it on the tractor, it still might be out there right now.

Cheers,
