I hope I'm not being ignorant here, but the manual in the run-in procedure section states for the first hour of operation to place the engine speed control lever in the "fully advanced" position and under load it states "maintain engine speed 100 RPM above full load goverened speed". Then from 2 through 5 hours of operation to place the engine speed control lever in the "fully advanced" position and under load it states "maintain full load goverened speed with occasional short periods of lighter load".

What is fully advanced? Is that WOT?
What is full load governed speed? Is that PTO rpm on the tach?

I'm a Navy Engineer and have read some pretty bad tech manuals, but this one has me baffled.

Thanks in advance, Mark

your not the only one... To my knowledge the only way to do what it describes is on a PTO dyno. Which is what I have seen others do on rebuilt engines.

Maybe others can chime in, but I have yet to hear of a report of engine issues due to improper break in.

In other words, don't worry and just run it and keep up with proper maintenance. :D

The mahindras i looked at had Mitsubuishi engines, They are really tough.. The main aim is not to lug the engine when it is breaking in and smoothing out those parts>>?Lugging a diesel is not good, But later running it at full governed speed ,,is well worth it..

Thanks for the input.

Jonywhere are you at. I work in Millington and have a house up by St. Louis.
Mine does have the Mitsubishi engine, that was one of our deciding factors, we have a Mitsubishi SUV and it is indestructible.

Navy, Drive west out of town on Navy road. I am 6 miles out towards Shelby Forrest..Yes they build some good products, only need oil, clean air and coolant, plus a little care like most of the tractors. I looked hard at Them, before i bought a used rig...I just did not use it enought to buy new?

Navy, for the record, I bought mine with little over 725 hours. First time,I was still nervous about running full tilt for over an hour with the tiller attached???Do You ever go to the YMCA in town,to work out?

Reread your manuel, there are two run-ins listed "Load" and "No Load". Under no load "Do not run the engine at idle speed. When not operating the engine with a load, you can keep the correct operating temperature if you run the engine at approximately 1500RPM." I am not brave enough to take a 1 hr tractor and run it at governed speed for 5 hrs. I did move logs for first tractors 7hrs @ 1500 rpm and feel good about it. I don't think I will run at governed speed until 25 hrs. But that is m.h.o. Please retorque loader/frame bolts @ 10hrs. If any of you have owned Mits/Cubs in the past this is paramount.
