After talking with my dealer yesterday about all the implements a fellow RTV 1140 CPX owner runs off his quick release rear hydraulics, I was curious if anyone has looked into (or is running) a 3 point log splitter off of the 1140's hydraulics? My research shows its a 5GPM pump which should run most 12 to 15 ton log splitters easily. Has anyone seen if the 1140 has an auxiliary hydraulic fluid cooler?

Given: A real tractor would be better, obviously, but right now, I have to build up my toy budget before that happens, so I'm wondering why not get more out of my new purchase?

By the time you add the necessary equipment to the RTV to run hydraulic implements and buy the log splitter, you would way farther ahead to just get a tow-behind gasoline powered splitter. You can't just use the hydraulic dump circuit, you would have to get the aux. oil tank, cooler, etc.

That's what I thought, but this sales guy was emphatic, you could just plug it directly into the dump circuit

My 2 cents; the gas-powered tow-behind work very well for our set-up; we skid logs onto decks where they can be butchered, split and tossed directly into a truck, RTV, and trailer (or stacked for a couple years for oak).

One of our firewood-imperatives is to minimize the number of times the firewood has to be handled as it moves toward the ash-dumping area; "the less-the better".

Kubota 900 "utility" model had the hydraulic tank setup for remote hydraulic work using a chain saw and some other devices.

Large tank for hydraulic fluid with radiator for cooling.

Pump unit on standard models like yours would soon over heat in continuous duty mode like running a log splitter.

It was only really meant to run the lift cylinder for the dump box or a snow plow blade.

What is this other owner running off this pump?

Thanks SpudHauler, I figured what you were saying was more accurate and I hope this other 1140CPX user doesn't burn up his system.....
