I have a T1760 kubota that thought was a steal of a buy, until i used it. It will run for about 30 minutes then it will die unless you put the choke on to about halfway. Have checked fuel, flow, filter, pump, plugs, and by the way these things aren't easy to work on,and the carb, not clogged float set right. One more question it will only run wide open no idle. Please Help

you probably have crap in the tank cloging it and the gravity delvery allows it to be pulled to the inlet opening of the tank.

Is there a second fuel filter somewhere below the engine that you may not be aware of?

Definitely a fuel line/filter problem. Not engine or electrical. Agree with above.

Thanks for the info have tried all of these things, replaced filter again and run new fuel lines from tank.Still will run for about 30 min then will not run without the choke on and when you shut it off the gas is bubbling in the filter but the fuel line is not all that hot it looks like air bubbles.I give up guess i will take more breaks for it will run good for a while then you have to let it cool.and there is no idle is this normal for this machine,it has auto throttle on the side, for whatever that means. Thanks again

Mikee, if choking the engine makes it run, then surely there is no problem getting fuel into the carb float bowl from the tank. If you didn't have fuel in the float bowl, choking wouldn't do any good. What seems to be the problem is that something closes off an orifice as the carb heats up. I'm guessing that the engine performance degrades slowly as it heats instead of suddenly. I would say that you can do one of three things to help:

1. Improve cooling air to the carb or isolate it from engine heat by a shield.

2. Put additional gaskets between the engine and the carb intakes to slow down the transfer of heat from the engine to the carb.

3. Remove the carb and soak it in carb cleaner and clean all orifices.

A 4th thing to do is to measure the engine temperature. If your engine is getting too hot for some reason, all this problem with the carb might be a symptom rather than the cause of your problems. This is probably the hardest check because what the temperature of the engine should be on a air cooled engine is not a widely know specification.

While you are digging around investigating check your windvane/governor if it has one. Make sure the springs are there and there is no crud on the linkage. Hose that stuff off with carb cleaner.
As a matter of fact when you have it running spray carb cleaner around the carb to cylinder connection. It should not change rpm if the gaskets are good.
Just watch so that the carb cleaner doesn't splash you in the eyes. Don't ask me how I know that.

Is it possible that your gas cap is not venting properly? Try removing the gas cap pryor to the 30 minute mark and see if it continues running.
