I just came from my barn, which is nothing more than a 20x30 metal building. Well, I have been keeping my brush hog in one back corner, and my small plow in the other. To hitch up, I have to back up into the corner with some precision while my front loader points menacingly at my building and shelves. The final straw was recently getting a bigger tractor and brush hog. Now I am REALLY out of room. In fact I have less than zero room. I owe room, if that is possible.

I'm going to the hardware store and get 2 heavy steel casters, and welding them to angle iron brackets that temporarily clip on to my brush hog skids. Voila! A rolling brush hog! I should be able to easily roll it flush against the wall, and back again to hitch it up. Sure, it'll sound like an empty oil drum rolling down stairs, but it should work.

Same with the plow. I'll make a heavy 5'x5' pallet from 2x6's. I'll add a heavy steel caster to each corner. I hope to use this to wheel my nasty little plow out of the way, or to wheel it near the door to hitch up.

Problem is, who will build this stuff for me ? Awww come on guys! Don't be lazy! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I go to Harbor Freight and get the $14.95 solid oak appliance dollies. They are well made and have heavy duty castors on all 4 corners and last forever. I have my 6' snowblower and other implements sitting on them. When I need a quick hook up they can easily be moved around in the pole barn. Good Luck on your project. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Thanks Pineridge. Never thought of checking Harbor Freight. When I go to that store I have to bring my wife. Otherwise, I would max out my credit card, minimize my checking account, and overload my truck.

A dolly should work at least for the plow if not that monster brush hog.

Ugly tractor man. You need to get a cover for it. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Well, I'm fixed up.

I got 6 HD metal ball bearing casters. I mounted 1 directly on each skid all the way up front. All I did was drill a pair of 1/4" holes on each skid, and loosely bolted a caster on each side. Man, my 700# BB72 now rolls around like a monstrous big shopping cart. Talk about easy to stow in the barn and to line up for hitching!

I also made a pallet for my plow with the 4 remaining casters on it. I'm pleased as punch. Now I have room for a couple of more implements.
