Rural living and Paypal

Like some of us living the rural life I order stuff over the internet. Ebay, Amazon etc.
And like some of us I have a Paypal account.

I have received 2 (sofar) notices from Paypal of suspecious activity on my account. My account doesnt show activity so I did as Paypal requested I sent the emails to spoof@Paypal.com for them to see.
No reply back from Paypal.

Today I got a email from Paypal that a payment was made to American Apparel.

So now I am real suspecious.. American Apparel is a real company an as the notice says it may take a little time for the charge to show up on my account.
Wasnt me, wasnt the wife and I am still unsure about this.

As I was forwarding this notice to spoof@Paypal.com I read the header closely

Here it is....

The notice was from Paypal but....it was spelled P a y p a I ???
They capped the I and in my email and my wifes email it shows up exactly like a lower case L = l

If you get anything that doesnt look right always open the full header and go throuh it carefully. If not it can cost you big time.

This email is around the 6th one from somewhere that by opening a full header it shows a different path then you see in the email.
Several from Costco and Riteaid .

Watch your 6

Lot's of spam/phishing emails supposedly from Paypal going on. Be careful.

Always check the sender email and DON'T EVER click on those links of dodgy emails.

I have got the same emails, what i look for is misspelled words, and also the email should have your name in the beginning or its definitely a scam.be carful

I send everything that looks suspicious to their spoof@paypal website. I do the same with all the suspicious Apple emails. They have a report site also.

There are so many scams going on right now you have to be very, very careful. As other's said, never click on those e-mail links.

I've had a couple saying my account was locked. I know better because I probably use it twice a week and sometimes more. PayPal usually responds when I send it to their spoof account but the last time they did not. They may just be overwhelmed with reports. The last attempt I got I just sent it to spam and later deleted it.

If I'm ever beyond curious I will log directly into my account just to make sure.

I may have been getting the same emails. I'm so accustomed to getting spammed though that they go straight to the trash. I did get one from yahoo a couple of months ago saying my email account was about to get closed; I deleted that one then wrote to tech support just in case. They quickly confirmed that it was a standard scam..
