Your palmetto bug story reminded me of a time when we were kids. My family was staying with my grandparents in Tallahassee, FL. Being Canadian boys from the geat white north, we had never seen a palmetto bug before.

We were getting ready to go to bed, sacked out on the floor on cots, when my little brother spots a palmetto bug crawl out from under a couch and he promptly starts screaming. This sets off my other brother who joins in the chorus. My grandmother comes rushing in from the kitchen and in her best Florida panhandle southern drawl exclaims "What's all the fuss about?"

We point to the offending bug, which was big enough to saddle up and ride away on, and my grandmother does something that is etched into my brain to this day.

She calmly and quickly spots the bug and promptly steps on it, squashing it with her BARE FOOT!! /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

We had a new found respect for her after that! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Oh, see, I will not go there. Im lost my apetite completely for french onion dip becaaue of those things. I saw my fourteen year old sister (obsessively modest) come out of her nightgown in the middle of the living room because one of those things was in there with her. They can and will make you lose all sense of decency.
