Sold my Kubota B6100 when I moved to WA
I bought a 6' landscape rake for my old Kubota B6100 and when I put it on, I realized that the 3ph links are not quite level. Never noticed it before since the box scraper and tiller I had are only 36".

My father-in-law kept the tractor outside in Southern California for 22 years and I doubt if he ever used the adjustable side-link.

As a result the adjusting link and the top section of the link are rusted tight. I soaked it in liquid wrench for a day but even a 12" pipe wrench wouldn't budge it.

Any ideas on how to break the rust-lock?

WVBill, apply heat to the sleve. It will expand and then should break easily. A propane torch will do. If you don't have a propane torch, hold it over the cook stove for awhile. Yeah, it will mess up the paint, but whacha gonna do?

Yep,
Heat and a easy wack with a hammer to loosen things up a bit. You may also want to try taking it off and soaking it in submerged in diesel fuel for a few days.

Liquid wrench, a trourch for heat, and a wack with a hammer will do wonders. I was a boat mechanic for 15 years, and this was a best combo for salt water rusted bolts. Should work for tractors.

Don't know what we did before the days of propane torches. I have to use mine often enough on rusty air tools to get them apart that I don't bother with those little one pound bottles. I have it on a 10' hose attached to a 40# propane bottle.

Like the other gentlemen said..heat and wham w/a hammer also a 3'+ cheater tube on the end of your pipe wrench than turn forward than backwards until it comes a part.
Once a part get a wire wheel brush for the drill and clean until it shines, than put the grease to it.

We had it in the machine shop at the place I used to work.

It's free!

Thanks for the tips, guys. I tried the pipe wrench again this morning before I hit it with a torch and I guess either another night soaking in the Liquid Wrench combined with eating my Wheaties this morning did it. Had to run it up and down three times with the pipe wrench and drench it in WD40 before it was free enough to turn by hand. Thanks again.

Never heard of that item.

In a way its strange sometime...like to different worlds, what we buy from auto stores lubes etc..compare to what machine shop have at hand, for machine shops seem to have the better.

Roger Welsch spoke very highly of "Kroil" in his "Old Tractors" and "Busted tractors and Rusted Knuckles" books.

By the way, they are well worth the reading, whetther you have a new or old tractor
