I am just curious if any of this equipment is worth anything or should I just cut it up for scrap? There are 2 hay tetters and 1 hay rake.

Thanks,

Dave

May be worth something to somebody:

A/ Local heritage farm museum
B/ Blacksmith could use metal/material
C/ Local collector
D/ Some one wanting to restore old farm equipment.
E/ Sell for scrap

I see a lot of stuff like this on our local kijiji. Not sure if it sells - but it is listed really cheap.

Horse-drawn equipment is worth a lot to any Amish farmers you may have in the area. They're always on the hunt for spare parts sources.

I'd put it on Craigslist at something above scrap price and see if I had any takers first. The rake especially looks to be complete, it might really interest someone. Most of this type stuff locally lost all the steel wheels to the lawn decor market. 10 years ago the wheels off of the machine would bring $50 to $100 apiece, when the whole thing wouldn't bring $25 at a scrap yard.

I agree.. advertise it for sale at above scrap prices.. if it moves.. you made out.. past that.. you always have the last option of scrapping.

My bet is it will sell.

Even if you sell and only get scrap prices.. it will save you some O/A.. and help out someone else.

I recently discovered my uncle's old hay rakes and seed drill on the back of his property. Old side delivery rake, old dump rake and old drill with wooden seed box. I thought it had been desroyed by bulldozer years ago. It is just sitting there, may try to get it .

There's a '39 John Deere two bottom plow sitting at the fork in the drive to my neighbors house.

It was free at an estate sale last fall and I told the wife absolutly not in our yard.

An hour later I was back down there with the trailer and a come-a-long loading it up.:( At least I dont have to go at it with the string trimmer.

I wouldn't throw anything like that away for scrap just now. I'd put it in the building for a few years and then if I had not found a use for it after moving it around several times, cussing it a lot for being in the way, and probably stubbing a few toes on it......THEN I'd scrap it.

Find some new small acreage neighborhood loaded with McMansions and see if the owners want to buy some "yard art."

The suggestion of parting it out to the Amish sounds good if there are any near you.

Otherwise I would scrap it.

I also have some old implements, but have not had a chance to do anything with them. I will probably post them on the local craigs list.
