Here's my new toy (TC29D w/FEL) and the one I built a few years ago. One goes 200+ mph and the other about 15. Each has their purpose, however.

Re: RV-6 WOW !

Are you like me, John? I'd love to try flying that thing. JohnNY made me have to go to http://www.vansaircraft.com to read a bit about them. Beautiful machines and sounds like great performance.

Re: RV-6 WOW !

I started my search for a tractor with an 8N, looking to rebuild one but ended up with the TC29D after a friend/dealer threw me the keys and told me to take her for a spin.

As far as the airplane, I started my search in 1995 for a good used plane but couldn't afford the performace that I wanted. I then searched the kitplane market and found Van's Aircraft. People stated the performace was good and that it was buildable. They were absolutely correct! The build process took a little over three years (nights and weekends). Finished in Nov '98. One inspection by the FAA and it was flying over the NY skies. Cruise is 180 mph with a top speed of 205. It also flys slow, which is good for the short, grass strips. Stall speed is about 52 mph. A 180 hp lycoming engine pulls it through the air. This is a tractor sight so I don't want to take up much space with airplane stuff. For more info check out Bird's link to www.vansaircraft.com

Re: RV-6 WOW !

Question for you John Miller: why do you post the picture in-line, as opposed to as an attachment?

I suppose it's a bit more convenient when you first view a thread, but it takes up a lot of time when there are a bunch of them in a lengthy thread you are revisiting (especially for those of us with slower internet connections).

Not trying to get on your case, just trying to figure out the customs of TractorByNet as a relatively new user.

Hi John,

It's a lot easier and more convenient having the picture in front of you discussing the subject versus "flipping" back and forth between attachment and text.

Most of the time, it's quicker to post for me as a reference in-line vs attachment mode.

I try to post "quality" items and don't mean to "bog" down the system...{I didn't design the internet system... /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif{Al Gore did...didn't he? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif}

I guess that's why God gave us the Escape Key.../w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Re: Photos In-line vs attachment

Thanks for the explanation, John. Didn't mean to imply that you were "bogging down" the system. In most cases, it's not a big deal.

Re: RV-6 WOW !

The only problem I have with it is that sometimes the attachment widens everything on the screen out to where I have to scroll back and forth to read the text on the whole thread. If it's a three page thread and I hit "all" it can be a pain in the butt to read. I have a 19" monitor and I don't want to buy a 21" yet. Is there a way you can shrink the pictures a little? Is there a way I can format the posts to fit the screen? I do really like the pictures coming up at the same time as the post, just not the scrolling.

Re: RV-6 WOW !

Hi Brad,

Yes... I didn't realize the problem until I read a few recent posts...

Now I feel bad... On any future uploads {attachments}, I will limit the width to 500 pixels as per Muhammad's rules to get some order on posting pictures.

On the in-line pictures, I won't have any control over from URL's.

But, you have my apologies... and I'll try to post more conservative in the future.

Thanks for the comments/suggestions Brad... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
