They should be at the back, that's what they do stablize the unit when camping.

Yep, Bo, I know what they do, got my first RV in 1971, have owned one slide-in pickup camper, two motorhomes, two conventional travel trailers, one fifth-wheel, was a full timer for 6 years, have 2 brothers who still live full time in RVs, one who used to be in the RV service business, and one who still is. One of them currently lives in a 38' fifth-wheel, a 35 footer was what he was living in in 1990. My fifth-wheel was only a 32' Carri-lite.

So yes, the scissor jacks should be mounted toward? the back, but a few feet forward from the very back end of the frame, leaving room for skid bars or skid wheels.

I would just make them removable with something like reciever hitch material or something else.
I have seen some of the manual scissor jack setups and they do hang down kinda far.

I just hate it when I'm draggin my @$$:)
