I have a S300g, 52 starting serial number, 2 speed. Left drive is extremely jerky with little power, right drive is better with more power. I have replaced both wear plates in hyd pump, and also replaced both relief valves on right and left side. Rotating groups appears excellent. I capped off drive motor hoses and stroked levers and had the same problem, I wonder if my hoses that control 2 speed are dumping my hyd pressure, due to a fault in my 2 speed valve. Or do I have a cracked section in my hyd pump! Any ideas?

More questions than answers for now:
1. is this a manual steering pump (left & right levers with steel bars back to the pump)? or is it Selectable joystick pump?
2. Any idea what the chage pressure is reading when lever is pulsing?
If you have the Deluxe (keyless panel you can monitor charger pressure on the screen while testing) otherwise you need to hook up a guage at the pressure sensor.
3. Do you have same problem if under power in reverse?
4. Why did you replace the wear plates? Were they worn?
5. Was this problem there before replacing the pump wear paltes?

I think you are getting pulsation & some slippage at drive belt. could be weak tension spring. Try removing the spring assembly and cutting 1 coil off the spring. I have heard of this working a few times.
When you removed the drive motor hoses and plugged them, you took motor out of the equation even if 2 speed was bleeding some oil, only thing the 2 spped valve could be doing with motor hoses removed is dump some charge pressure oil, then you should be getting low charge code.
