Where do I begin.....
That's my stand on owning horses. But this one friend of mine.....

OK, he's got a problem. His pastures are full of weeds. Mostly broadleaf. He's got no way to spray, and I don't do spraying off my property anymore. (He's got a "spinner" fertilizer spreader.)

Anyone know of a (NON-restricted use) broadleaf weed control, IN GRANULAR FORM, inexpensive enough for 6 acres? How long to keep animals off after treatment?

Not being a "horse person", I'm not aware of what's safe and what isn't. Just passing on suggestions.

The only non-restricted stuff I'm familiar with that doesn't have grazing restrictions is "Pasture Pro" from TSC. Unfortunately, it's liquid and needs a sprayer.

What about a nice stroll on his six acres with a back-pack sprayer, doing spot removal?

Get a good weed and feed from the CoOp. My wife and I own about 25 horses and we use it w/ no problems. Think its made by Vigro?

I've owned a lawn & tree care business for many years. A bag of professional granular weed control is about $30 and covers about 1/3 acre. Your looking at about $90 per acre or $540 for 6 acres. I think your friend would be better off to buy a tow behind sprayer and a gallon of 24D from TSC.

Around here you can get the 2,4D in pellet form with your fertilizer. We do it every year on our pastures. Try and time it when it's going to rain. It works.

Here in Kansas I just call an outfit called Lonepine Ag Service and they spray my pasture with nitrogen and weed killer. It use to cost $50.00 but now about $200 for about a 6 acre pasture. I think it is still reasonable. It would not cost much more for more acres. They have a minimum spraying charge. Another option is to call my county extension office where I can get the weed killer and use of a sprayer for just about free. I would have to buy my own ferilizer.
I recommend that your friend call his local county extention office. They are shure to fix him up. Counties hate noxious weeds and they get grant monies etc... to fight them. Even with lone pine spraying my county picks up the cost of the Tourdon weed killer.

Here I will make it easy
