i have a oldie but goodie 743 that runs like a champ, problem is that the safety bar will not stay up without the services of a bungie cord. i looked in manuel and it says to tighten to 25 ft lbs, done and still falls down. springs look old and weak, is that the problem? is that an easy fix? where does one get the parts? or just keep the bungie!

Like any mechanical device it can wear out over time. Worst thing that made them wear faster was leaving the seat bar up when hauling it down the road on bouncing trailer. Bobcat dealer will have parts for it, may find some other palce online possibly ebay.

Hi, new member here.

I went through the same problem with my 743 last year. The sides of the seat bar were worn through from use, the springs were also shot.
After removing the bar, which is a real pain, I welded up the sides, ground them back to smooth and replaced the springs. Back to new!
The springs were only a few bucks at the dealer.
