yanmar ym2000b
Hey folks, I'm the proud new owner of a ym2000b with 750 hrs. The previous owner sent me this way so thought I'd get on and find my way around. No msg board exp so be patient. The most important question now is which aftermarket ROPS? My kids, 20,22, and 23 will spend most of the time on this tractor and they have no exp.

Read read read.. There is likely close to 5 million hours of seat time between the users here.. Ask anything and sit back for lots of info!

Fredricksequipment is the supplier of a folding ROPS manufactured by I think the same US plant that built them for Yanmar-USA. It carries an OSHA compliance tag. Hoyetractor (Texas) and others retail this ROPS as well as Fredricks. I have one on my YM240 (US version of YM2000) and like it. I think this ROPS is the model that nearly everyone has. I don't know of another certified folding ROPS.

I suggest use the Search function here, on ROPS and other topics such as your model # to learn more about your tractor. You can limit the search to the Yanmar sub-board.

Welcome!

Its nice to see safety is at the top of your list and will be money well spent, with these yanmars being so narrow make sure your boys understand how to use the tractor and never ride a hill sideways, even with the ROPS flipping a machine can result in tragedy. I remember being 20, make them boys be safe.

Welcome, Stevo64. I hope you enjoy your new tractor, you will find this area of tractorbynet to be a marvelous resource, with many people who actively and willingly help those who need assistance or advice. I certainly have, and do.

As Smoody said, a ROPS system is a good idea, but only part of the equation. Treat it like seatbelts in a car, though. Use it all the time, but operate the tractor in a way that means you don't count on it. It isn't normal for a tractor to flip or roll over, but it is easy for it to do so. Make sure everyone operating it, or in the area it's operating, know how to behave and function safely.

Implements, both using them and attaching them, are safety hazards too, especially with someone "helping" by trying to hook up the implement while someone else drives. What attachments do you have, and what kind of work are you doing? What's the terrain like there? Do you have tractor experience? ( You said your boys don't. ) You will have a lot of fun with your new tractor; they are excellent machines.
