I have been meaning to get a salt spreader for my 1/4 mile driveway and sooner or later I am going to get bit.
I have a herd 3pt spreader I could use but I am a little worried about rust on the tractor. It does get used for fertilizer and i have never noticed it getting pellets on the tractor but I will most likely keep this tractor forever or at least as long as I live here. I also may or may not have the backhoe on when the need arises.
I also have a Polaris 800 ATV. I could get an electric spreader for the receiver hitch. I am not so worried about rust on the ATV for some reason. I would also be more comfortable on this on a sheet of ice. Any recommendations on a good spreader for ice? Types of salt etc? I used to have a tow behind and one day after a few beers I dragged it up and down my driveway. I didnt see any salt on the ground - just 2 smooth tracks where the spreader wheels glided over the ice.
third option is a walk behind. Any recommendations? I am not exited about this incase I need to go out while it is still coming down so if i can figure something else out I will.
Thanks
