I need to get a salt spreader. It would be just for residential use. I have 5000 sq.ft. of driveway to salt, half of which is on a 25% grade. I am in western PA (just east of Pittsburgh) and although we don't get a ton of snow, it's not unusual to get a couple of inches of wet heavy snow while the temperature is in the mid 30's & then have the temps drop down to single digits overnight.
I am debating between a SaltDogg TGS02 & a TGS03. I can get the TGS02 for $850 & the TGS03 for $1279. The TGS02 has a 3 cu.ft. hopper and can only use bagged salt. The TGS03 has a 8 cu.ft. hopper and can handle bag or bulk. I have no intention of doing commercial work, but want to get a spreader that is heavy duty enough for years of use. Which spreader should I get? Also, about how much salt will I go thru (per application and for the year)?
