Kubota B2630
Picked up a oil filter at my Kubota dealer for my B2630 and just went to change oil an notice it is close to 3 inches shorter. The numbers are HH 150-32094 for the short one and HH 160 32093 for the long one. It does fit but just wondering if the longer one would get better filtration. Always had the long one but does it really matter? Could wait till tomorrow and ask dealer but I was in the mood to drop the oil today!

Typically, there are a half dozen filters with the same thread and rubber gasket size. The different diameters and lengths of the filters create different numberings, but they are essentially the same filters.

When confronted with these options, I have always preferred the slightly larger filter body, if clearance is not an issue. I kinda like the ounce or two of additional oil capacity and sometimes, the larger body allows for slightly more filtering media. Be it ever so humble, the oil filter body is also a heat to air exchange point or oil cooler, if you will. All these differences, however, are so very incremental.

It's no big deal.

That's kind of what I was thinking! Will not put on that many hours anyway. Just changing to winter oil so it usually only a matter of 20 to 30 hrs and then back to heavier oil for the summer! Will then change back to the long one.

I've used both styles..no problem, longer ones seem easier when using filter wrench.

Filters do vary somewhat, but a 3 inch length difference...That's a bit much..No?

I'd be somewhat concerned. Just for winter storage that's probably fine as long as you're not using it for snow removal. I wouldn't hammer it until I put the right one on.

There is no concern. A quick check on Messick's shows you actually got the right filter. The short one. HH 150-32094

Again, look these filters up and you'll likely find the specs identical except for body size.

Not a big deal at all. For example most older GM motors offered a limited clearance filter, small, and a large capacity filter, big.

your right now that you mention it I remember those! Will ask for long one next time because as THOMAS mention the long one is easier to get at with filter wrench!

Always go for the longer/bigger filter that fits your application(if you have room) a longer/bigger filter will give you more oil capacity(good thing)improved flow because there's more sq in of media(good thing)takes longer to "load" the filter because of more filter media so you could run a longer OCI if you really wanted to(good thing).

I always cross reference my filters and run a over sized filter whenever possible.
