I'm looking for suggestions. The (used to be) ideal machine for me would be a 4310, 430 loader 72" mmm and a box blade. I've been looking for this combo or something very close (used). Obviously I want a brand new 3x20 machine with all the new goodies as soon as i can get one. BUT, I'm a bit too frugal for that. I see a 4400 with 72"mmm, 280 hours, on machine finder for ~$15,500. I was thinking about looking into this and let's say add the 300cx loader and a box blade. that particular machine doesn't seem to be that bad of a deal. I could add onto it and could have quite a machine for, i assume, a Significant savings over new. Would it make sense? Do the newer models offer that much over these older ones? Maybe i should wait and see if there is bunch of trade-ins when the 3x20's come out? I don't know, maybe I'll go temporarily insane and buy a brand new model in the spring. This just may be a bigger decision for me than getting married!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Tell me what you think.
Suggestions that's all.

I think you hit the nail on the head mentioning waiting for trade-ins when the new 3000 series comes out. When JD released the X-series a couple of years ago, there were a LOT of really nice 400-series mowers that appeared as trade-ins.

It's sort of like getting married. Putting it off is always OK; but once you take the plunge, getting out of the water is almost impossible. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I don't think that 4400 is an awesome deal. But it does show how well these hold their value...

I have a 4400 with syncreverser, 430 FEL and 48 BH. Mine is a 99 with about 720 hours. I was just running it tonight. I looked at the 10 series when they came out and am anticipating the 3x20 series. I have not seen anything that would prompt me to trade. I like my sync and heard stories abuot the e- transmissions that turned me off. Do not get me wrong, if I bought a new tractor, I would probably like it as well. There is just nothing earth-shattering about any of the new series that has made me think that I have just got to get one for me.
