yeah i know, wish i could lay my hands on some large plastic ones cheap.
They do make drum liners. May not last forever, but cheap, and easier than painting with undercoating.

Good Evenin Alan,
I got one of those 55 gal poly drums and cut about 1/3rd of one end with my jig saw. I then made up a frame out of 2x4's to raise it off the ground. I have mine situated on the steep section of my 800 ft drive ! I still fall on my a&& when Im spreading the sand with the shovelso I guess I really need a 3 pt spreader !

WOODY,I have a 650' steep drive and also used to fall on my butt a lot spreading sand. Now that we have the tractor, with chains on 4 wheels in the winter, I put sand in the bucket and get my wife to drive slow down the drive. I walk in front spreading sand ahead with a shovel, as it is downhill the spreading is easy. As I am always walking on sanded sections, no more sore butt.
EVENING SCOTTY,
Thanks for the pretty pic of your drive.NEXT time shovel out that barrel so ONE can ACTUALLY see it.
Im dreaming of a 12 volt atv spreader i can throw in the bucket.some dy someday...
