OK so I just took delivery of my Satoh 650G yesterday and after using it an hour to move some snow with the FEL I decided to put the tire chains that came with it on in anticipation of more snow. Anyway, while trying to turn the wheel to better line up the chains I heard a crunch and lost all steering. Once I finally got the tractor in the shop i unbolted the steering shaft at the box and looked down inside, I have stripped 4-5 teeth off the face of the steering gear.
So my questions are:
1) How do I repair this?
2) what should I do in the future to prevent this from happening?
Is the FEL heavy enough that I shouldn't be trying to turn the wheel unless moving?
I was really hoping to get more time out of my new to me tractor than a few hours of snow removal.
