For those looking for info on the Satoh S-500, here is what I have found so far, after lots of searching...
It appears to have been made in the late 1960s or prior to 1972, and was part of the same line at the 650G. There was a S350, S500, and S650G. These models had the headlights on the side. 1972 and newer 650G have the headlights in the hood.
The S500 was made for the US Market, and was imported by NEDA. It appears to have been also sold as Dan Brown tractors, at least in the 650G configuration. I have seen a posted cover of the brochure, but no instructions or repair manuals.
The tractor is 18 hp at the PTO, using a 904cc 2 Cylinder Diesel, and has the hydraulic system separate from the transmission. Tires are 8.3X24 on the rear, with 4.00 X15 on the front. The tractor has a 6 speed transmission, 3H and 3L. The engine takes 4 quarts of oil. I used 15-40W Diesel rated oil.
The injectors and injector pump are made by Denso, which is still in business. The air cleaner is the oil bath type. I believe this engine was made by Satoh, based on the Katakana lettering on the DST90 Engine Plaque. The starter is a Delco.
I hope this helps anyone who is looking since it seems to be a very rare tractor.
If anyone has a source for the manuals, please let me know. Thanks.
