Satoh S650G backfiring through card ocassionally spewing gas through the bent tube

Satoh S650G runs but backfires through carb, and sometimes spews gas through the bent tube? Is it due to timing? Or just needs a carb rebuild, it will rev up and seems to run good minus the annoying backfire from the carb. I have ordered the electronic ignition, now i am wondering if I should also get a carb kit. New fuel lines and filter, has electronic fuel pump. I have taken carb apart and cleaned it, but acts the same.

I'd guess timing. But more trouble shooting is necessary. Just a guess.
