Just saved myself $150.50 today. I run out of diesel fuel today so I decided to get new supply but our Ford Exhibition 2001 din't start. Did some simple testing and determined that it was bad starter. Specifically the solenoid was not pulling. It took me for a while to dig the starter out out of the car so the auto parts store was already closed. Therefore I decided to figure out what was actually broken. While measuring the solenoid coil resistance I noticed that the connection between post connecting power to the motor and winding of the coil was corroded off. Therefore I cut off about 1.5" of copper tubing, then cut it lengthwise and flatten it to get material for new connection. Cut the necessary shape, drilled a hole in it slipped it the post, put motor connection over it, tightened the nut and soldered the other end of new connection to the coil terminal. Then I used jumper cables to test the starter and it was working. Massaged it back to the bell housing and the car started like with new starter. Initially I intended to remove only the solenoid but I couldn't get the two bolts with Phillips head unscrew under the car.

Great idea. We have the same hammock and don't have specific place for it. We have a pond so there it will go.

Oh no, my genius has been limited to more home-bound projects, like my drawbridge dock.

Good try to hide the real purpose of it. That is not a dock. That is very sophisticated antenna for communication with extraterrestrials.

Are those wooden things near the base pallets?

Referring back to the OP, great minds think alike. I did exactly the same thing back about 25 years ago. Can't remember which truck it was on, but it worked like a charm.
