Sawmill

I'd like either a band mill or a chainsaw mill. Cost is a factor.
I have a 91cc chainsaw that could be used on a mill if needed.

Try doing a google search. I did this a couple months ago and found some sawmill plans but didn't keep them. There is one guy who has plans for a bandsaw mill using automobile tires as the drive wheels. He sells the plans for I think about $50.00. He claims to have built many and they are very effective. Good luck and report back on what you find.

I have built a bandmill form plans from the internet. The guy called his plans the "simple saw". I have cut about 40 cords with this mill and have another 20 in my yard. It was alot of work to build. You can contact me at scott@koykerproducts.com and I will answer a fiew questions to get you started. I also have a web site at www.koykerproducts.com

Check out Baileys-online.com

They have lots of chainsaw mills (from $29.95!) up to and including the really expensive ones.

I built my own band saw mill from scratch. To save yourself much time and money try the plans at
Home Built Bandsaw Bandmill - Build your own Bandsaw Sawmill - Home.
Please keep in mind these things.

Build it to use a standard size band used on the manufactured mills. If you make it to use odd size bands, it will cost you $$$. Do not under power your mill.

Make everything adjustable and I mean everything! I spent just as much time machining certain parts as I did welding. I can adjust everything. It pays dividends in the long run.

Do not use exotic parts. Band saws wear out parts. Can you replace the bearings, the wheels, or the guides readily? Try to build it with parts from your local auto or tractor store.

Be real about the diameter of the log you will really cut. Sure you can build a band saw to cut up a mighty red wood... In reality you'll be cutting much much smaller trees.

Get a metal detector.....It cost about 4 band saw blades and last much longer than 4 band saw blades.

Plan for saw dust removal... These things make tons of saw dust.. If I can be of any help just email me. I'll try to send pictures.

There is a very active sawmill group on Yahoo, worth checking it out, IMHO.
