ScaleBlaster to Solve Hard Water Issue

We purchased a farm last July with a main house and an apartment on the same spring fed water system. The water is hard and we want to remove the hardness ideally without installing a traditional salt softening system.

I would appreciate advice / comments about the ScaleBlaster product sold by Home Depot, Amazon and others.

Any other brands that are similar to ScaleBlaster we should consider?

We regularly have a mineral scale in our toilets. Muratic acid left in the toilet bowl for a few hours does wonders. All the scale is eaten away. It's readily available in places like Home Hardware or any place else that sells swimming pool supplies.

I think the scaleblaster type products are gimmicks, personally. Other than low review scores I have no proof though. Certainly haven't spent over $1,000 to test them.

Making the assumption that these devices work at all (which I seriously doubt) the apparently only deal with one type of hardness from lime. There are several possible sources for hardness so they might work in one location but not in another.
There is also another issue to consider. Once the water becomes separated from the high frequency source by any valve it would no longer function. That means things like toilet bowls and tanks would not be treated so scale would continue to form.
