Scammer trying to by my JD 750 on tractorhouse....

Here is his email to me. Note the overpayment he wishes to make. I don't have alot of time or patience for his kind of scam the scammer junk, but what the ****....he may send me some cash. If he does, I'll just tell him the rig was stolen and he better call the coppers. btw, what the heck is a puckett?

however i made out a
certified cashier's cheque of $17,000 for the payment
of your tractor, it's shipment charges
This amount is bigger than what should be paid to you
now, so you're required to deduct the cost of your tractor $10,000 and send $7,000.immmedietaly the check clears.
this balance is for the shipper, to enable them commence
shipping.
Once the purchase process is concluded my agent will
be coming for the pick-up of the tractor
from it's present location and conclude other
necessary shipping arrangement via our pre-paid
shipper. So you don't have to bother about shipping
charges/arrangement.
Confirm this and provide name, address and phone
number for cheque payment to be delivered to you.

Sounds like a wonderful deal. Please also include $50 USD (cash) to cover my bank processing fee's. It costs me $25 to deposit a cashiers cheque and $25 to draw one. These fees are the buyers responsiblity as the amount I am asking for the 1988 puckett is very fair.

The deal is that the certified check is phony -- oh, yes, it looks real, and your bank will even think it is. A few weeks after you deposit it and cut him his check for $7K, your bank will catch up with the fraud, only, you will be out the $7K!

These scams happen all the time in the dog world, many of the perpetrators are from Africa and other third world countries.

Buddy in the truck biz got one. Someone from Portland wanted to buy a used chevy pickup in Kansas (why????). Purchaser wanted to fedex a bank check overnite, and he'd have someone at the dealer's at noon the next day to pick up the truck and the $5000 extra cash.

When buddy got the check, he called the bank in Portland. IMMEDIATELY, they stopped him and said, "It's check #XXXXX, with the name of XXXXXXX, right?"

Yep.

The guy had forged 20 of these so far and was palming them all over the country. Buddy called the police, but no one showed up at noon, so the cops finally left. Think buddy framed the check!

Slacker: Even if you deposit a "certified" or "bank" check and your bank tells you the check is Good. They may be WRONG. Some of these forged Bank and Certified Checks take a month or more to be determined as invalid and then the bank will charge back to your account and you will take the LOSS not the bank. Beware.

No worries fellas....I told him to send me the check and $50 cash to cover my banking fee's. If he sends the cash, well, the scammer got scammed. Otherwise I'll just keep the check for laughs.
