Just about to do a little FEL leveling for a Harbor Freight greenhouse, and...

I am shiftless! NO H, M, or L!

Conveniently, the roll pin at the bottom of the shift lever into the transmission is all the way out but still sticking in enough to save.

That happened to me once with my CK20 too. Pretty quick fix but you'd think hidden linkages like that would be more failsafe than depending on a cotter pin. I may be remembering incorrectly but I recall thinking that there was just enough wiggle in the lateral movement of the shift lever that it was possible to work the cotter pin out with normal use. Again, my memory is not clear on this but I think I replaced the cotter pin with a key ring closed loop type fitting that could not be worked out as easily. Never had the problem again.

Yes, replacing that roll pin with one of those clip ring things is a good idea, I will.

The current one will eventually work itself out again.

I have the small (aprox 6 by 8) Harbour freight green house. It had the worst dirrections of any product I have ever owned. They were just plane wrong in places. Tech support eventually just emailed pictures and it went together. THat said I would probably build another given the prive. We have baby goats in it and an attached run now. The door did give up the ghost on it, and I fabricated a more traditional door for it.

We often just put mechanics wire through the roll pin and tie it off around the shaft the pin goes through. I guess it sounds like this is not a new issue.

Wow, I thought my shuttle shift was a bit notchy this past weekend and while greasing it I spotted the roll pin backed out about halfway (to the rear). Tapped it back in and went on but hadn't decided what to do about it. Something with a retainer or keeper pin would be a better solution.
