I'm in the market for a tractor with a loader. Near me is a MF 135 with the Perkins 3 cylinder gas engine and what looks like a 200 series MF loader.

I know the Perkins diesel engines are legendary for their reliability. Do Perkins gas engines have a similar reputation, or are there known problems with them?

Will a 135 handle the loader with its standard front axle, steering, and hydraulic pump?

Any other issues I should look for?

Thanks.

Hi
I have both a gas and a diesel powered Perkins MF135. They both feel to have similar power delivery and both start very well in the cold. I've had the gas one apart because it was siezed from sitting for years. The internals are very similar. The only weak point on the Perkins gas that I can think of is the carb shutoff solenoid can be a problem and it's expensive to replace. It also uses more fuel. I enjoy both equally.
