An Indiana farm wife called the local phone company to report her
telephone failed to ring when her friends called - and that on the
few occasions when it did ring, her pet dog always moaned right before

The telephone repairman proceeded to the scene, curious to see this
psychic dog or senile elderly lady. He climbed a nearby telephone
pole, hooked in his test set, and dialed the subscriber's house. The phone didn't ring right away, but then the dog moaned loudly and the
telephone began to ring.

Climbing down from the pole, the telephone repairman found:
1. The dog was tied to the telephone system's ground wire via a steel
chain and collar.
2. The wire connection to the ground rod was loose.
3. The dog was receiving 90 volts of signaling current when the phone
number was called.
4. After a couple of such jolts, the dog would start moaning and then
urinate on himself and the ground.
5. The wet ground would complete the circuit, thus causing the phone
to ring.

Which demonstrates that some problems CAN be fixed by p!ssing and moaning.

Pete

The lovely Mrs_Bob has a 6 to 7 pound little yappy beast that I've been threatening to put a shock collar onto, but the only problem is that the shock collars require a dog with a minimum weight of 8 pounds. If I could find a 2 pound shock collar that would give the combined dog & collar combination of at least 8 pounds, but somehow I suspect that is not what they mean when they say 8 pound minimum.

But now I don't have to get a shock collar. You have given me the answer to my problems. How long do you think it will be before the lovely Mrs_Bob will notice that her dog yaps just before the phone rings? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Bob, if that dog is as yappy as some of the ones around here, I don't think the phone is the answer....unless you want to be constantly calling yourself..... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

But now how about a microphone into a stereo amp?! Talk about a feeback effect!!!! I wonder if there's a market for something like that.....nah probably already exists or it did and was deemed imhumane /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif.

Oh well, there's you're next weekend project! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Feed the dog!
Maybe give it a pound of hamburger, then apply the collar.
