My new neighbor is tearing down an old house and detached garage. While cleaning the junk out of the garage he came acrossed a steel topped table that had been used for setting type on at a newspaper. It is 30x24 inches made out of 3/ 8ths steel and is setting on 1 1/2 inch pipe legs setting on 3 inch casters. The top of the table is 37 inches high. I think it ought to make a pretty good welding table. Any way it has found a new home in my garage:thumbsup:

Can't have to many tables. The best one I have is made from a tractor platform like you see on a backhoe or large tractor. Holes that were cutouts for the brake and clutch pedals and probably seat mounts and such are ideal for clamping things out in the middle of the table. Its about 3 ft by 5 ft and 5/16 thick. Been thinking about building a cutting table but not sure if I'd get that much use out of it.

We got one of those good deals on our table and stick welder. They both came from a guy that was having legal problems (he ended up going to jail - more then once) and he needed the money (legal bills) and he sold the stuff from his shop real cheap. We got the table for helping clear the shop and the welder for $50.

Both work great.

Did you check the pedigree on the stuff or are you the next one in the poky?

He had a completely legal auto repair shop. The "pedigree" on the equipment was just fine ... we even got a hydraulic press from him ... he was selling all his legal goods to pay for his illegal activities.
