Last month I had 7 scorpions get into the house!! My wife gave me grief about it and wanted instant remedy. I called the "Bug" guy, and he stated that scorpions are in the spider family and are quite hard to get rid of. He treated around the outside of the house with a "spider spray" and it seems to have worked. I only had one scorpion get into the house since then.

Good luck!

We keep findin' them in the sinks, they are apparently traveling thorugh the drains. Now I'll have to find the entrance it surely isn't the septic tank.

Scorpions eat other bugs. They like to hide in a crevice and pounce on unsuspecting prey that wanders by.
As long as there is enough food that comes to them they just stay hidden out of sight. Unfortunately when you do a good job of exterminating their food supply goes away and they have to come out of hiding to find food. Twenty five years ago I got concerned that my young children would pick up toys off the floor and put them in their mouths (guaranteed event). The problem was that the floor where they found the toys might have insecticide on it so I quit exterminating in the house using insecticides. Instead I used boric acid in places that were inaccessible to the kids. This controlled roaches better than the insecticides did anyway. Since I stopped exterminating inside the house I have not seen a scorpion in the intervening 25 years even though I know they are there. I have had no bug problems either. I am not advocating that others not exterminate but it worked for me.

We live in Central Texas and have killed a number of scorpions in the house recently. We have been told that they are looking for water because of the drought. Take that for what it's worth. When we moved in our house about 5 years ago we found scorpions frequently. I dropped all of the light fixtures, removed all of the outlet plates and sealed up around the electrical boxes with spray foam. This pretty much took care of the problem; in fact, we had a couple of years without finding any scorpions in the house. A contractor told us that scorpions are more prevelent in new houses than old (because of moisture?). I have also sprayed around the baseboards with a general insecticide that is appropriate for inside use.

I broke down three days ago and spread a two foot band of Dursban (illegal as of the end of this year, I know) around the outside of the house. Haven't seen a scorpion since, even though we were finding two to five per night before I spread.

centex - in the future I will try the boric acid. Seems a better solution than using man made toxi waste and glowing in the dark. Thanks!

After the wife got stung last year, I spread several pounds of Diatomaceous Earth (DE) in, around, and under the house. Also behind the fridge, under the sinks, closets, etc. The only scorpions we see now are dead ones.

We just moved out of Arizona last summer.....good riddens to scorpions!!! It used to be a regular event in our house to scan the entire house with a black light now and again. More often in the kids bedrooms. I assume you all know they glow green under a black light. One time I caught one and decided to try my tried and true bee exterminating method....Brake Clean. You can hit a wasp or a bee in mid air and those suckers will drop right out of the sky. Well, I submerged this thing in the stuff and left it there. I think it just ticked it off! Finally gave up and got it with the heel of my shoe.

It is also very common for them to come in through the septic system. After a while we became accustomed to just keeping the drains closed when not in use. Problem is that nothing seems to kill these things immediately. I believe most things that kill them, such a mica and DE take a while to work so they may still get in before they die. My poor wife, who I think had a bit of an allergy to them, got stung three times. One of the times she got it three stings from the same one while in bed! She scared the heck out of me when she screamed. Nope, miss AZ terribly except for those cock roaches with stingers!!
