Few years back, I was hit by a limb that my ROPS pushed back as I was using my BH, when I moved the BH in creep mode forward, I turn head just in time for the 1" limb to slide around the ROPS and hit me square my right eye. Hurt real bad when it happened and I immediately lost my sight in that eye, I thought it had ruptured as I put my hand to my eye it filled with blood. Fortunately, it only busted most of the blood vessels in the eye and cut my eyelid. But is also scratched the cornea over most of the center portion and your are very correct, that was the most painful part of the recovery, took about 15 days before it did not hurt. It was about 30 days before I started seeing again and now have about 75 percent of my sight back.

Life lesson learned- I wear safety glasses no matter what I am doing outside. I have a pair in every vehicle and I hang them on my hat so I put them on before I open the door. I may go outside with no shoes or shirt on to get the paper but I will have safety glasses on as it has finally become a habit.

Hope you get better soon.:)

Kenmac, ouch! Hope you heal soon. KubotaToy, quite a story. Good safety reminder for all of us.

Hope you went to see a doctor? Obviously, your eyes are important.

my wife is an optometrist and sees quite a few scratched corneas and foreign body removals.. probably +90% of them are NOT wearing any type of safety glasses..

I've gotten crap in my eye many times.. Always in my strong eye . The suffering is WAY disproportionate to the injury.
One Sunday I was cutting, grinding, and welding on an old trailer . When I took my safety glasses off it brushed a piece of rust out of my hair; I tried to work the next day but gave up. By the time I had it looked at I had a crater that is still there. A couple of years later I was working on a hot, humid day and had just taken my glasses off because they were steaming up and caught a sapling so hard that it flashed white... by the end of the next day I ended up in the ER.

The good news is that it will heal fast.

OUCH! OUCH! OUCH! Eye injuries just give me the shivers.... Never had a scratched cornea myself. One of our cats did. He was not a happy guy for a few days, but it healed 100%.

Here's some insight

Yes, I went to the eye hospital Sunday night ...Got eye drop meds...went back to eye doc. today.. She says she doesn't like the looks of it..Gave me different eye drop meds.. to put in my eyes every hour over night.

So, I guess I'll sleep for an hour on and off all night. go back to see doc tomorrow...
It happened this past Saturday while cutting grass... I had safety glasses on, but something got around them ,and in my eye.. I went in and was able to see the something that got in my eye and got it out... I put my contact back in ,and thought all was fine.... When I awoke Sunday morning, I was in pain... I really didn't think much of it ,until later in the day... I told my wife to give me a ride to the eye hospital...
W'ell see how it goes after being up all night putting in eye drops..

Sorry to hear, hope you heal soon.

Yeah, me also at least 3 times, twice in the woods and one dumb one at work. Once while solo camping/canoeing in UP of Michigan, hit a branch when looking up suddendly when startled by a very large military aircraft flying very low and fast over the U.P. Luckily I had the antibiotic ointment and drops with dressing from the work incident, but ended up in the tent for 24 hours. It is painful, and infection is a risk not to be taken lightly. Using ointment and eye patch at night and being careful not to create suction when trying to open the eye if crusted over in the morning (by soaking the eyelashes and lids with warn washcloth first) will help it heal faster. I would have someone look at it, I had difficulty with one of them healing properly.

a piece of steel chip managed to make its way over the top of my safety glasses & fish hooked into my cornea. I knew it was bad when the doc told me it had to be ground out because pulling it out wasn't an option. (I duct taped my eye open to get there, 20 mile ride, because it was scratching my eyelid) Hurt pretty bad for a couple days. Take it easy for a few days. get well.
