Screen Porch Makeover

A few years back I built a 13 x 32 screen porch. We enjoy it during May and parts of June, and September - parts of November, for relaxing, dining, and just unwinding. It is great for watching college football. Next to it we built a rock water fall.

I am considering making it almost year round. This will involve some additional flooring, many windows, sliding glass door, and heating and cooling. I think I want to go with carpet so the grandsons will have a soft surface for their sleeping bags. And we want to install a small kitchen area.

What are your thoughts on windows and door that will stay open for several months during the year? Heating? What is the best subflooring to put on top of the existing deck floor, for insulation.

I have included the best picture I have of the porch. Sorry, the truck is in the way. I will post others either by finding them on another computer, or taking some new ones. Thanks for your help.

Though I may not have any useful info for you I do have to say that's a mighty fine looking screened in porch and I'd use it every chance I got too. Nice house and place as well!:thumbsup:

Here are a few more pics to show the structure a little better. One from the front side and one showing the inside walls right after we had a lightening storm and the cover on my irrigation controller was thrown from one side of the porch through the screen on the other side.

What is the best way to go from this, to a closed in porch that could serve as an open screen porch as well?
