Greetings, Just repaired and painted the horse trailer, wish I had a picture to show what it was like. I would like to seal the roof seams.

What have you used that has worked?
Thankyou

Richard

I sealed the roof of my 2-horse gooseneck trailer last year. I sealed first, then painted. I used something called Dap 3.0 Advanced Blacktop & Roof Sealant. Home Depot sells it in my area (WV). The 3.0 stands for a 3 hour cure before being able to paint. It comes in standard caulking-sized tubes (about 2" diameter X 8 1/2" long). It cures to a hard but flexible, somewhat tacky consistency. It comes in black and white color.

After more than a year out in the weather, there are no leaks. So far so good.

horsepuller, Thanks, I just saw your post. RE: the DAP 3.0. That sounds good, you did yours last year, are you still pleased? Thankyou

The sealer seems to be holding up well. I have no leaks. I also used it to seal the seams between the floor mats in the trailer and along the mat-wall joints. This is a tougher job; some of the mat-to-mat joints have come unsealed.
Overall I am satisfied.

I have an 83 motorhome that I sealed the roof using a cream colored thick sealant bought from an RV dealer. I recall the price was a bit high for a gallon but I sealed the roof about 10 years ago and it is still in place with no cracks or leaks, I also sealed along the tops of all windows, still pliable. This product had to be applied using a brush or putty knife and it will slowly flow to level. Whatever you do, dont use any of the old silver or aluminum colored roof cement, it is pure junk that will crack when the trailer flexes, leak, then require complete removal. Good luck.
