Well, I was going to get the wix 51056, but napa wanted $11 for it!!! So I asked about the 51516, but it's about 2" taller than the 51056, so it will interfere with my side panels. I take it you guys with the twin engines must have the filter in a different location so it won't interfere with the panels? Oh well, I'll just run to the dealership, I think they're cheaper than napa for the kohler filter.

Mojo, too bad she didn't fit! What size engine is in the 2166? The 51516 sticks straight out the side of my 2544 (20hp kohler twin), but there is still plenty of room behind the side panel for it. In fact I just picked up a 51516 from carquest today for my Ford Windstar. It was $6.68 + tax. I had a supertech (walmart) equiv. sitting in my workbench (paid $2 for it), it's just so cheezy feeling I cant bring myself to install it on anything! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

JT, it's got a 16hp kohler command in it, but there's only about an 1" clearance between the standard filter and side panel, so no goin' the cheaper route for me..... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
That's okay though, it says on the filter to get a new filter only every other oil change, so I kept the filter from this winter and will stick it on again this fall for the winter months, since I only put on around 30 hrs of use on that filter so far. Then I'll have this new filter to swap back next spring.

Yeah, that 51056 is plenty big enough for a 16hp single anyway. Some cars have smaller filters! I doubt running the big one on my kohler twin does much but make me feel better. If you get in a pinch, you can always use a site like this to x-ref the 51056: http://www.pureoil.com/ The purolator equiv. is a L35310.
