I have a new (2016) Toyota Tacoma with cloth seats. After having leather (smells great, looks great...sticky in the summer and cold in the winter) and vinyl, I much prefer cloth. I do want to keep the seats in decent shape and I'm considering seat covers.
Although I've had seat covers, I'm no expert and I'm asking the TBN team for some input. I won't say price is no object, but a couple hundred dollars for both front buckets is about my limit.

I don't have any experience with seat covers but I would suggest checking with some local upholstery shops and see what they may have to offer. I had a tonneau truck bed cover custom made at a local shop once. I was less money and better quality than one I was going to purchase.

I had CalTrend neoprene seat covers on my 2006 truck for the last 5 years. They wore well but I finally put enough holes in the drivers side due to tools, knife etc. in my back pocket that I retired them. I am having my original drivers seat reupholstered for the cost of the seat covers, my passenger seat is fine. The upholsterer will also put in new foam.

The neoprene did cut down on the heat from my seat heater, had to run it on the high setting more often than low. I think a nice quality cloth/cordura cover would be my choice next time.

We have Covercraft seat covers in our 2008 F250, 2011 Tundra and 2016 Tacoma. Have used these seat covers for more than ten years on our shop trucks and the wife's with our dog and are very happy with them.

We have had the Cabela's Trailgear series seat covers for some time now. They have worked well for us. One thing you need to check is if your truck has side airbags in the seats. Using a cover that restricts the airbag can be a problem. The Trailgear has Velcro sides, so we just left them undone and should be fine. Some of the seat covers that have a foam backing can rub off onto the original seat and make a mess when they are removed. Probably the higher end ones have a better foam than the cheaper ones if that is a consideration for your truck. Good luck. Hope you like your truck.

A guy wants what he wants, but why put seat covers on?

Unless a person is a slob, good seat fabric will outlast you. Seat covers nowadays should be pretty nice but I have never had seat covers on and the cars and trucks I have had for 10-20 years with 150 -200k miles on show almost no wear, Except for a screwdriver I punched in one that I forgot in my pocket.

I always have fabric seats and never leather for reasons mentioned.

purchased a F250 extended cab (not crew cab) 2000yr. recently. and looking for seat covers for it as well. the center council / seat is what did it over for me. wanting any were from $150 to $250 custom made. and nothing pre fab, ((aka cheap 10 to 30 bucks at local walmart / auto stores)).

when i see a design / color i like cheapo's. will be grabbing them just for the 2 front bucket seats, and forget about the center council / seat. and not worry about the rear seats

the websites i did come across. that were selling the $150 to $250 on up covers. were giving a full cover for center council plus lid itself on the council. the websites were normally stating customized seats for the truck. vs some pre-fab doing.

many years ago for the 1997 S10 blazer, looking for seat covers. and i do remember returning a couple of them (cheapo's) mainly due to the straps were complete junk, and would not allow the cover to properly tighten up on the bucket seats. i would slide my rear end in , catch the cover, and end up seating on a un-comfortable wadded up seat cover. hence returning them.

ended going with some stretch fabric on the back. (not a strap, but full back stretchy fabric) and then a couple straps approx 2" wide, for the bottom of the seat. for a nice tight fit. the straps for bottom were not stretchy, but more of a rope material that would not give out over time. it was a bit of a pain getting the straps nice and tight, and knotted correctly, but after that, i completely forgot about it. till i went looking for another set of seat covers for the F250.

for me seat covers a requirment. mainly due to dogs + lake + mud = nasty smelling puppies, and mud tracks.
for myself. mud + boots up to middle of lower leg or higher + smeared mess of mud across boots = nasty mess sliding in/out.
for myself. having to roll in the dirt, grass, mud to fix something / deal with something, and hoping back into vehicle.

seat covers = cheap insurance.

Wet Okole. They're great. Had them on two trucks. We did wear them out in one truck after 100k miles. But we would get them again over other seat covers.
