Never even considered the seat mounting points would fatigue and break. Guess I should stop before dessert at dinner? Most likely too many side hill adventures in the woods.
At any rate, the underside of the seats sheet metal skin is spot welded to 1/8 inch flat bar stock which has 90 degree bends at either end. Permits a through rod to attach the seat to the sub frame. One side of the 1/8in bar broke clean off; in the process some of the surrounding 18ga metal fatigued and broke off too.
Some hammer and dolly work to flatten things out, a file to shorten stretched metal, and a few less- than- impressive welds and spots put things back together again.
Only reason I posted this is to provide a heads up---repair would have been a lot easier if I caught it quicker. Never thought to look. Suppose it doesn稚 matter if you have a plastic seat base.
