I am building a dump hoist for 2002 F-250 v8 I bought this truck about a year ago and it has been great but the wheel wells have started to rust so I got a great deal on a new flat bed, and I thought it would be great to be able to dump firewood and mulch etc.
it has helper springs and airbags so it is pretty much only limited by my tires as far as weight.
I did a lot of thinking about the dump mechanism and I concluded that I could build most of it before removing the factory box to limit down time.
my thought is as long as I make a functioning scissor and leave the location of the body attachments for last I should be okay. I.E knowing the length of the sub frame and the depth of the channels , I have a four x sixteen cylinder.
I started today by thinking out the various pivots an fabricating the components for those then got a start on rough assembley. so far I have about 6 hours in it.
the subframe will be 3" channel and I just ordered an electric over pump for it.
