The yellow seat on my 4300 has begun to separate from the black support base and I was wondering if anyone out there can give me an idea on a good way to fix this problem.

Stuart - Sorta easy. I removed my seat (I had the same issue at the bottom, LH side) so I could work on a bench. Got a heatgun to warm/soften the vinyl - including about 4" on either side of the derailment .. Get a wide plastic spatula/putty knife, etc to push the vinyl back into position .. Now the tricky part: take a plastic or rubber mallet and pound the edging back onto the seat frame/vinyl cover combo while holding the vinyl in place. (..you may want to push the vinyl past its natural position because the edging is going to push it back out again..)

The factory has the advantage in that they appeared to glue the vinyl to the seat frame before pounding on the edging. Mine is 90% cosmetically good, but secure.

After 11 years of use, my seat on my 1999 455 finally became unrepairable.I had it reupholstered for $80. I asked for heavy duty material and they did an excellent job. It should last for years.

I had an identical problem with the seat on my 4400. I used Gorilla Glue (on the vinyl) and set a 50 lb bag on sand on the seat (braced against the seat back) for a few days.
Worked like a champ!

Soon thereafter, I bought a Deere seat cover.

Ditto with same problem.

I pulled the black trim off, used automotive weather strip adhesive to re glue (excellent adhesive, comes in tubes).
The black trim has continuous metal clips inside.
Pound it almost closed with a rubber mallet and re-install using the same mallet to force the stip into place.
Don't be surprised if the strip is shorter than the complete contour as it shrinks with time.
A heat gun will help streatch the vinyl material back into place.

Good luck, it is not all that difficult a job.

The black strip is also commonly available from auto upolstry shops should yours be all rusted out inside.

Thanks for the ideas to fix my seat. I may wait till spring when it is a bit warmer here in Virginia before I attempt to repair it BUT I am glad to hear that it can be fixed.

If the tractor can be parked inside for a few days, I suggest you not wait. That's an easy repair but it's not going to get better by itself.

Or just take the seat off and bring it into the house.

Would you post some pics of the "new" seat? Thanks

Old thread but my 4310 seat has no clips. It just has an indented edge where the glue came loose. I'm going to round up as many clamps as I can find and use gorilla glue. I plan to space the clamps maybe 4" apart. I might have to do the base first and then the back last.
