Thought I was going to get some relaxing time on the tractor this weekend. I had some property to bush hog, 5 acres + or -
Called my 65 yearold dad to see if he wanted to ride with me, he is retired and I thought he (and mom) would like to get out for a while. All was going great went and picked him up 8am or so, went and loaded up 20' trailer , he sat in truck playing with xm radio. Loaded tractor he got out to watch, helped me settle bush hog between tires so not to rub. Got to the property to cut, With only 2 detours, tractor needed fuel and he needed coffee ( he only wanted coffee from the store without diesel). I unchained and unloaded tractor he played with the dogs. I start to get him a lawn chair He says he wants to drive tractor before it gets too hot. I say ok and walk to the back field show him what has to be cut, and tell him to stay away from the pond. (fords dont swim!!!) well 3 hours later hes done with that section and wants to know whats next? I say the fenced in horse pasture. He drives I walk to the gate, open it up and tell him I will cut around the fence line so he reluctantly gives up the seat. I make one pass oround and back into each corner so he can just cirle through, pull back up he says took you long enough, I was getting bored, Climbs back up cuts field and leaves me closing the gate while driving back to trailer. I had to run cutting thru the yard to have him park tractor in the shade to cool down before loading on trailer. My trailer is 6'6" wide my tractor is 6'4" wide did not want him falling off. I know I will think back on this day for years and smile, for a city boy he sure did look at home wiyh a straw hat and blue jeans. I just have to remember to not tell him about all my tractor jobs or Ill never get any seat time!!!!!!
so I ended up driving on and off trailer twice and one lap around the pasture. and still had a great tractor day
