new member. have read literally hundreds of your knowledgeable posts. grew up on a farm but lately (after 30 years in city) moved back to the country and have been looking for my first tractor. limited my heavy research to top three, (although I looked at other models suggested and considered to lots of satisfied owners posts on other brands). my results are as follows:
a.) first thought I wanted a small CUT b7510 or similar; b.) then as time went by I thought I wanted a b3030 - then wanted the cab version; c.) then looked at subCUTs as many of you seem to be very proud of their capabilities; d.) finally settled on the need for about 20+ pto hp so as to allow powering of just about any size gear I wanted to run; e.) for my needs at least, was concerned about ground clearance so sub CUTs fell out of consideration - back to mid or large CUT; e.) brands, features, current plans, pricing, incentives, dealers, yada yada yada - what a chore to consider and optimize all!!

bottom line is the process is evolutionary. dont fix your thoughts without giving adequate time to think drive compare and read. my percieved needs changed radically before I thought I was finished.

I can elaborate on this more if anyone wants to chat but, the strange part is I first looked at green and rejected due to cost /weight. then looked at orange and was sure that was it for me. suddenly was taken by blue, but backed away after clearly determining it was not the one for me. at the end I returned to the deere just to look before final orange decision and found features and size I felt very comfortable with. could not deny that. decided to go with what I wanted (size and brand) despite price due to the typically long life of this potential "member of the family". most suprising of all I found I was able to negotiate an excellent price for it (never thought I'd be able to say that). JD3320 hst @ $15,900 w/ 300x FEL for $2800 or 300cx FEL for $3300 incl HD 61" bucket and 36 mo @0%. sounds like the right deal for me all the way around. BTW no mowing chores- primarily need a machine that wont run out of "grunt" for my underbrush / wooded area clean up, building a drive, small barn constr. and gen. maintainence chores, fun, etc. oh yeah and one I will not soon outgrow.

Not sure what your asking? The deal seems to be OK, but it appears you want more. Due to new guidelines for general forums........

Shortened Long Link

........ you'll have to post in a brand specific forum for more info on each color!

thanks Greg. no questions. not asking for more. very satisfied with where my thinking is now.

my comments were for general info and comfort to the literally hundreds of others who are going or have gone through the same crazy, sometimes mind numbing process.

moral of the story was meant to be take your time, try them all, but after the dust settles be true to yourself and get what you really want. and dont forget to deal - you might be suprised at what you can get!! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

This is NOT true.

A direct quote from the Second Guideline.

If your question relates to the comparison of two (or more) brands, you may post it here (and not in the other brand-specific forums).

There is absolutely no need to "...post in a brand specific forum for more information on each color".

thanks Mike,

after studying for so many hours weeks and months, (as a technical person I do that), I thought it might help others to mention my experience in summary. I think that fits into the Buying Pricing Comparisons category. Again I feel like a long term member after so much reading, but I defer to veterans like yourself and am glad someone spoke up. seems things on TBN have gotten a bit hurried and insensitive to the main needs of members and that is to exchange experiences. Most of us are first timers that is why we are here. It is kind of those of you who have lots of experience to share. I get the feeling you give more than you get.

why do you make that statment? he was not asking for specifics, just stating his experenice and thought process when shopping. even if he asked the difference between two makes of the same size tractor, what is the harm. people are just looking for information and suggestions .

The size tractor you have selected should be great for the task you mention. Maybe over sized. I have a 30 HP tractor on 4 acres. Some would say its over sized. But it's about the right size for me. I have looked at a larger tractor. But got turned off when I started to look at what I would need to move it around. A new truck and trailer big $$$$$$. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif. I had 2 tractors before this one. A Farmall 340 and a Kubota B7100. I kind of miss the things the 340 could do. The B7100 would get into places my current tractor will not.
When you make a decision to purchase one tractor for all your task, there are give and takes. If you use my theory that I currently am using you need to look for a smaller tractor so it will be easier to haul with a smaller vehicle.
I still have the desire for that larger tractor. If the right deal comes along I will go for it and then figure out how to haul it /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
I need to stay from them dealers, so they will not make that ounce in a life time deal. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Your price from the JD dealer, looks like he sharpened his pencil. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

thanks for the support Ron and Hypernix. my final deal was the product of working with at least 7 dealers in a 130 mile radius to find out who was paying attention. strange my local Kubota dealer couldnt get interested to return my call or follow up on my request for a half day try out - and I visited his lot 6 times before giving up on him. beat the bushes and the game will fly. refuse to give my business to anyone too lazy to follow up. know I got a smoking deal at the end of the day - well over 20% off list on all parts and options too. want to share while my deal is fresh info.
