Hey everyone,

I am in the market for a 2720 but need to sell my 2210 first, thinking I'll go the Craigslist route and would appreciate pricing suggestions. My 2210 is a first-year tractor that I have owned for almost 10 years. 430 hours. No problems, very clean and always stored indoors. It had the recall done on the toplink leak back in 2004 and has not leaked since. I have added an access door to lubricate both front and rear u-joints on the driveshaft and they seem to be fine. Early in its life I added the engine block heater, Femco folding rops, X700 series suspension and high-back seat, a rear light kit plus another set of forward-facing lights on the ROPS. I also have both bar and turf tire sets for the tractor. It has the 210 fel with standard bucket and the 62C deck, new gator blades at the start of this year. 80% of the hours have been mowing; the other 20% snow removal; with a small amount of bushhogging my back lot and misc yard work.

I've done a lot of looking around and I estimate my trade price somewhere around $8K. I'm thinking of setting an asking price around $10.5 with a goal of selling for around $10K if I sell it myself.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Fred G

$10500 sounds fair. Maybe even $11000 and will give you a little more negotiation room.

I've seen a few 2305s with 200cx and 62D listed for over six months in the $10,5K range. I'm not trying to hurt your feelings, but I am always curious to what my $20K lawnmower will be worth in a couple of years. You might be able to squeak a couple more thou outta your dealer on a non current 2720. Most guys are jacked up to get that 2032R.

I've noticed it all depends on the region your in.

In NE Ohio right here, my '08 2305 with 200 hours on it, is still worth as much, if not more then what I bought it for - so about 12-14k with the 200CX loader and the 62D on it. Trade in value of 9500-10500 depending on the dealer. (Massy dealer will give me 10,5k on a GC2600, JD dealer will give me 10k on a new 1026r, Kubota dealer will give me 9500 on a new BX2660. All prices were from the fair in September.) Private sale / consignment prices are about 2-3k higher then trade in value.

But it seems the further south / west you go - the lower the prices are. I've seen the same 2305 go for as XSkier said - 10.5 private sale. Even 9000 private sale. I don't know how it is in Michigan, but I know in my neck of the woods, the John deere dealers stick very close to the MSRP. The cheapest I could get the price on a 1026R (every dealer with in 75 miles) Was about 17,500-18,000 depending on the attachments I wanted. (Quick tach loader and auto connect deck.) The Massey dealer (Which will probably be my next tractor) was willing to give me the loader / mower / backhoe for just over 14k...

Thanks for the input and feedback. I can pick up a new 2720 with FEL and 62" deck for just under $21K, list price around $24K+, and that is the advertised offer from MuttonPower in Fort Wayne, IN. Based on what I have been reading about the 2032R I'm expecting the same machine to be around $26K+ and for my uses both machines will do the job. Haven't shopped locally yet but here in Grand Rapids prices tend to run a bit higher....less % off MSRP.

I'm sure I could be a bit better selling my 2210 if I negotiate. I don't expect top dollar on a trade, seems like the MI dealers are pretty stingy. Looked at a 2520 in 2008 and was offered $8K on trade back then! Yea right. Then he sweetened the deal to $9K almost immediately, at that point it was pretty clear he really wanted my 2210, I figured he had a seller, and they would have listed it for $12K and sold for somewhere in the $11's.

I guess the next step is up to me! Thanks again......

Go to eBay.
Create a search for your 2210. EBay has a category for tractors. First go to category INDUSTRIAL & AGRICULTURE
Then click on ADVANCED tab.
Near the top is a box for COMPLETED AUCTIONS.
You will see history of what 2210's actually sold for on eBay.

If you do eBay.....

Good suggestion to check ebay.....2 have recently sold. One with 593 hours, turf tires and the 62C deck for $6950. Another one with 480 hours, R4 tires and 210 loader sold for $7800. The mower deck should add at least $1000 more so I'm probably looking at around $9000. BTW, the one that sold for $7800 offered at a buy it now price of $9800.

I think I might be better off to sell my bar tire and wheel set separately, as I would have 2210, 2305, and 1023/1026 R buyers...the rears are like new and the fronts are brand new.

Thanks again.

I bought my 350 hour 2210 last year for $10k with loader, mower deck and a box blade. I felt it was a fair deal compared to other tractors I looked at.

Thanks Brandon, $10K seems about right to me, too.

I was at my JD dealers yesterday and one of the mechanics told me he was selling his 2210. I believe it is a 2004 with around 600hrs, has the 210 FEL, and rear either mower or brush hog not sure which... I thought he said he was asking $7000.00.. sounds like a good price compared to the prices everyone here have been quoting. Dealer is in Oakland Md. Oh he wants to sell his tractor because of wanting to build a house.
