Tractor
Kubota L2800DT
Hi, Has anyone ever sold a tractor on eBay? I have never sold anything on ebay yet and wondering what I need to do to sell this tractor of mine. My tractor is a 2005 Kubota L2800DT with Ind. Tires and 5 foot blade. I want to sell it for $11,000 dollars.

Terry 1st off you need to get registered with eBay to start the process.

Take some good pictures, build a good description of your rig and list it on a Monday. To get more bidders to see it I would suggest starting the bidding at $0.99 but put a reserve on the tractor of your $11,000 if that's the bottom figure that you need for the item.

If I can help you further send me a PM. We are currently eBay Platinum PowerSellers with feedback approaching 19,000 so we might know a few other tricks that may help you sell your tractor.

BTW We sold our last tractor here at TBN within 24 hours of its listing. No insertion fees and no final value fees to pay. It doesn't get much better than that. Well maybe it does as the buyer paid cash....... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I also EBay sell and my experience is that auctions timed to end Sunday night are the most effective..
Most action seems to occur in the last 5 hours and Sunday is 'prime time'.
To gain bidders confidance be sure to point out even any minor flaws/defects as that will work for rather than against you.(dings, leaks, hrs, tire wear and maintainance status)
Also for a desirable equipment like a Kubota it would help to provide a legitimate reason for selling as a buyer will wonder.
A tough problem you face however is a '0' FB on a major price item in that there are many tractor scams being run.
It is well known that the combination of '0-FB' combined with a high ticket item is a scam 'red flag'.
To work around that 'flag issue' you need to provide some carefully worded assurances.

Good luck.

Hi Terry .. I have sold a tractor on Ebay. Your link was to Ebay Motors...wrong spot to auction. You want to be here

Shortened Long URL

I was selling a less expensive grey market Yanmar but the transaction was smooth and I think went well for both parties involved. Good luck! ... Scozz

MikePA: Please review your message before posting it. It's simple not to create a long link that widens the entire thread. Just insert a descriptive word or two between the {url=http://whatever}<font color="red">Enter words here</font>{/url} instead of the entire URL. Replace parentheses {} with square brackets in previous example. Alternatively, if you use the Instant Markup language URL link, the first prompt is for the URL. The second prompt is for a description. Do not simply paste in the URL again. Type a short description of the link.Note: Following standard Internet protocols, bolding is for emphasis and should not be confused with all capital letters, which represents shouting. Also, this instruction is done in public so that others may learn as well.

If you are concerned about this scenario then you may wish to use an eBay Trading Assistant. An eBay seller with a high feedback rating used to sell your tractor for a fixed % of the selling price. To find an assistant in your area go here directory

Incindentially we happen to be number one for our zip code 44216 /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi, Is there a website for people to find out what my tractor is worth on the market?

Thanks, Terry

Terry, I sold my Kubota BX23 on ebay last year. For the ad, good photos are worth a thousand words so I recommend posting some good photos that show close ups of the engine, each side of the tractor, and from the operator's position. I would avoid accepting pay-pal because on a item so expensive the fees are really high, like $800.00 dollars on a $10,000 item, plus e-bay's fees of around $150.00-$175.00. Also, try to be as specific as possible concerning the aspects of the deal, and the condition of the tractor. If the terms are pick up only and cash on deliver/pickup, make sure the ad clearly states the terms. To assure shoppers that your ad is not bogus, have good communication, and answer email questions promptly but beware of emails looking to pay you too much or trying to negotiate outside of the auction or asking your reserve price. Be sure to set a reserve price, but don't go overboard, just set you reserve price at you bottom dollar that you will accept for the tractor. I set mine a 14k, and got 14k+. The reserve price will protect you from selling the tractor for less than you want or think the tractor is worth, but if your reserve is resonable, people will probably meet your reserve price. For the sale only take cash or a cashiers check, if you take a cashiers check try to verify the funds from the bank before the tractor is picked up, and don't give out any of your bank info or account numbers. There have been cases of people giving out that kind of info to accept payment to only have someone take money from their account.

Good Luck.

Jim

Hi, Thanks for information about eBay. I will not be selling my tractor on ebay after all because a buyers agent for eBay told me they get 10 to 15 percent for selling the tractor. And want to take a loss on tractor. The tractor has only 10 hours on it and I cann't take loss of 1000.00 or more. I will try to sell it in a local paper or website.

Thanks, Terry

Terry,

Just an FYI, my "2006 Official Tractor Bluebook" says the average retail price for your tractor is $11280.
