kubota L3400
O.k.,... here's the deal.
I am going to sell my 2008 L3400 hst, with 25 hours, LA463 loader, with quick attach bucket, quick attach pallet forks, R-4 tires with stop leak, heavy duty rear tire chains, rear wheel spacers, arm rests on the seat, 1100 lbs counter weight, all the manuals.
Whats it worth.
I am going to down size to a bx24 or bx25.
I just dont need it and I still have a b7800, that is setup just about the same.
Prices in this area "mass" seem to running around $18,000.00 as an average.
So should I be at that, or less, or more, or try to find a guy with cash and a bx looking to upsize.
Thoughts, opinions, advice.
Thanks in advance.

I can't speak to what's happening in Mass., but that tractor would not bring $18k in East TN. One was recently advertised here with a PHD, HST, bushhog, FEL with QD bucket, less than 100 hours for $16.5k.....asking price.

But, your market may be different...

I trade tractors alot and with Barlows. Currently waiting on a figure from them for a possible trade. I traded a B3200 with implements to them a couple months ago for a BX25. They picked up my B3200 and dropped off the BX25. So, contact them to see what they will do first and then follow the advise you're going to receive about listing yours for sale on Craigs List. After talking to Barlows you'll know how much you can receive for a trade which will give you a figure to start pricing yours. If yours doesn't sell as quick as you desire then you can always call back and tell them to come get yours and bring your new BX25.
You do need to realize your competing against all Kubota and some other color dealers offering 0% financing on a new tractor vs yours requiring cash or high rate interest financing.
Good luck on your trade or sale and buy.

Do I understand that JT will be trading soon and what tractor is leaving the fleet?

I believe he is going for a "two-fer" his BX2660 and F2680 for an F3080, but I could be wrong.

After trailering my BX2660, FEL, MMM and tiller with my Dakota I'm probably not going to do the two fer. The Dakota did the job but seemed to struggle doing it. It handled trailering the F2680E back to the house OK. I was considering trading the 2 for a F3080 and trailer it back and forth between properties for mowing. I like the F so much for mowing that I want/need one at my home property for mowing but I have to have 4wd here at home. The F2680 will go up steep hills backwards but on some of my steepest spots it won't go forward unless I lift the deck which sort of defeats the purpose for mowing and does some sliding backwards.:)
Steve Barlow suggested trying weights to tires but I think I need the confidence and grip of the 4wd. He never trys to sell me anything and usually offers options not requiring a purchase or trade. The sliding backwards doesn't appeal to me. And mowing backwards up hills doesn't appeal to me.
Deals not done but hopefully Steve will have a price by Monday. So, BX2660 or F2680E to a F3080 4wd. Depends on trade offer to see what I can afford and at a figure I can live with. Have the BX25 to use on both properties for FEL and BH work but will have to add 3ph arms to BX25 to use implements.

There is a 2006 L3400HST with the loader and about 200 hours here locally for $14,000 that has been for sale for a while and he has not sold it yet.

I don't know what your tractor cost new but even though it only has 25 hours you will be taking the butt kicking on the depreciation of buying new - the old you lose thousands of dollars when you drive it off the showroom floor. I don't think tractors are quite as bad as cars but I am in the market for a tractor right now and I can tell you with the 0% financing and warranties on new units i am going to have to see major savings to buy used.

Just throwing out numbers as an example here and they may not be accurate but if you were a buyer would you rather pay 20k and get a brand new 2010 tractor with warranty, and 0% financing or pay 18k for a 2 year old unit, no warranty, and likely 6-7% financing? See the tough position?

No butt kicking being taken here, you pretty much expect to lose money when you turn them arround as often as I do.
Paid $15,500.00, and its about kubota #4 for me not counting several bobcats and antique tractors.
I'm already trying to work deals a couple different BX machines.
Might be an expensive hobby, but mortgage is paid and no kids leads to a life of toys.
