I see one (Indigo Bunting) occasionally but have many, many "Eastern Blue Birds", sometimes as many as 15 at a time sitting on the power line over a field as they feed dropping down to catch insects.

That's what I do (watching) when I'm not "getting more things done".

Cheers,
Mike

old, I also have a heap of bluebirds, eastern variety. Now see OP and boys? We haven't hijacked the thread, this just shows that some of us geezers ain't too interested in getting more done, but watching the crits from our air conditioned and heated dining room tables while we siP ice tea or ho' java, depending on the season. I sip'em both year round. Oh me, I've got a heap o' things that need doing, but hey, look! A group of purple finches, a gold finch and a dove just came to me sunflower seeds and water!!

You know tc, you're right, it's an indigo bunting. I knew better, but I have mistakenly (one time) called them blue buntings before. I don't think I've ever seen one actually.

Are you sure it is an Indigo and not a Blue? I cannot tell from your avatar, but when I looked up Blue Bunting I noticed that there was also a very similar looking Indigo Bunting (one has a bi-coloured beak and the other single coloured, cannot remember which) and a Blue-back Grosbeak and an Ultramine Grosbeak and a Lazuli Bunting and.......... They all look pretty much alike - although with subtle differences and any well-trained bird spotter would notice the difference immediately, even when they are flying past at 50 yards. Me, I would be calling them LBBs (Little Blue Birds) the expression LBB is used in many places in Europe because we have so many Little Brown Birds.
