RickB: Things are a bit crazy, and unfortunately it's not at home. I think the raining part has more to do with my crappy luck lately.
As for the serial number, there just isn't a flat spot on the sides of the transmission housing anywhere. Believe me, I did a pretty thorough inspection. The only place it could go would be on the bottom of the tranny where it would get rubbed off, or on the top under the rubber platform mat.
